Itinerary
Day 1. Chasing the Arctic Northern Lights: Unleash the Aurora Borealis
Be captivated by the awe-inspiring hunt for the elusive Northern Lights. Upon early morning arrival in Keflavik Airport start by fueling up with a delightful group breakfast with your small groups of travel companions for this wild Adventure. It's After breakfast is a a private transfer to the domestic airport. Anticipation builds as you soar through the skies to Akureyri, the bustling "Capital" of Northern Iceland. Check-in at your cozy hotel and indulge in some well-deserved rest. As twilight approaches, embark on an off-road expedition in search of the dancing ribbons of the Northern Lights. As the evening draws to an end we will partake in a private delectable dinner party, amazingly set in a restored ancient turf-house, steeped in history. Don't worry, you can dine and enjoy without a worry while we watch out for the lights during and after the dinner. If weather allows, we just might shoot up some fireworks as well. Late night arrival back in Akureyri as you settle in for an overnight stay.
Day 2. Myvatn Odyssey: Unveiling Nature's Geothermal Wonders
Embark on a captivating journey to Myvatn, where the geology takes center stage. Delve into the surreal landscapes adorned with cone-shaped craters and explore the mesmerizing lava tubes. Witness the mesmerizing spectacle of boiling mud pits and hot water springs, revealing the raw power of nature. Admire the grandeur of Godafoss waterfall as its cascading turquoise waters captivate your senses. Cap off the day in relaxation at the geothermal Myvatn Baths, immersing yourself in their tranquil embrace. Retire for the night in the comforting ambiance of Akureyri.
Day 3. Lava Tunnel Expedition: Uncover Earth's Subterranean Marvels
Return to Reykjavik via a morning flight and prepare for an extraordinary adventure in the underworld. Explore the massive Lava Tube Raufarholshellir, an ancient testament to Iceland's volcanic past. Contemplate the sheer magnitude of nature's craftsmanship as you venture deep into this subterranean passage. At the end of the day, find solace in the warm hospitality of the new beautiful Hotel Geysir, nestled near the famed Strokkur hot spring. Settle in for an overnight stay, ready to continue your exhilarating journey.
Day 4. Glacial Thrills: Conquer the Frozen Realms
Immerse yourself in the rugged beauty of the Icelandic Highlands as you traverse the magnificent landscape up to Langjokull, Europe's second-largest glacier. Brace yourself for an adrenaline-pumping snowmobiling experience, traversing the icy terrain with the wind in your hair (...kind of, we will of course give you a snowmobile suit, helmets and goggles :-). Weather permitting, discover the ethereal blue beauty concealed within a small ice cave, uncovering nature's dazzling artistry. Retreat to the comfort of Fosshotel Reykjavik via the magnificent or a similar retreat for a well-deserved rest.
Day 5. Reykjavik Revelations: Bid Farewell to Iceland's Charming Capital
Embrace the freedom of a leisurely morning in the vibrant city of Reykjavik. Venture into the city's colorful realms, enveloped in a blend of history, art, and culture. Unwind at a tranquil spa, relish the joy of shopping, or delve into the city's intriguing museums and awe-inspiring churches. Treat your taste buds to an array of exquisite pastries, savor the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and indulge in luxurious chocolates. Bid adieu to Reykjavik's magnetic charm as you prepare for your homeward-bound journey, carrying memories crafted during your Icelandic escapade.
