Itinerary:
Day 1: Dendera is located about 60 kilometers north of Luxor on the west bank of the Nile River opposite the town of Qena. The temple of Dendera, dedicated to the goddess Hathor, goddess of maternity and love, stands out among the beautiful temples in the South of Egypt. Distinguished by its well-preserved wall paintings and ceilings, wide and huge entry, and detailed carvings, the temple showcases pieces of evidence of many religious structures dating back to the Old and New Kingdoms, reflecting the holiness of the area. However, the current temple dates back to the Greek period, with many additions and expansions during the Roman era, and the birth house or Mamisi dating back to the late period. Your private guide will explain the important parts of the temple and basic reliefs.
Day 1: You will visit the archeological site of Abydos. Famous for being the cult center of Osiris and Isis, it is also home to many temples and tombs. Touring Abydos, you will have the chance to see major attractions such as the temple of Osiris, the temple of Seti I, and the temple of Ramses II. Visit the main attractions in the company of your Egyptologist guide, who will narrate the history of the temples and explain the reliefs on the walls and columns.
