The adventure kicks off with Eldhestar whisking you away to Hveragerði, a picturesque town renowned for its hot springs, located just a 35-minute drive away. Along the way, immerse yourself in the stunning Icelandic scenery en route to the stables. At Eldhestar horse farm, whether you're a novice or an experienced rider, you'll receive top-notch guidance on mastering the art of riding the unique Icelandic horse. Dressed in provided safety gear and warm clothing, you'll set off on a 1.5-2 hour horse riding expedition, traversing through Varmá river, hardened lava fields, and meadows that boast the magnificent nature this region has to offer.
After your horseback riding adventure, enjoy a light lunch at the Eldhestar horse farm before heading back to Reykjavík, just in time for the whale watching segment of your tour. Depending on the season, departures for whale watching are scheduled at 1:00 PM (from September 1st to May 31st) or at 3:00 PM (from June 1st to August 31st). Setting sail from the Old Harbour of Reykjavík, your quest to spot whales takes you into Faxaflói Bay or nearby areas, where the likelihood of encountering these majestic creatures, including Minke whales, harbour porpoises, dolphins, Humpback whales, and even Orcas, is high. The boat is equipped with cozy indoor saloons, restrooms, and an onboard café for light refreshments. Morning Horse Riding Experience
Start your day with a pickup from your hotel, followed by a scenic drive to the beautiful town of Hveragerði. At Eldhestar horse farm, whether you're an experienced rider or a beginner, you will be equipped with all necessary gear and warm clothing for your horse riding adventure. The 1.5-2 hour exploration takes you through stunning landscapes that include rivers, lava fields, and meadows, immersing you in the breathtaking nature surrounding the farm.
Afternoon Whale Watching Tour
After returning to the horse farm for a light lunch, you will head back to Reykjavik just in time to catch your whale watching tour. Whether it's between 1 September and 31 May (starting at 13:00) or between 1 June and 31 August (starting at 15:00), you'll depart from the Old Harbour of Reykjavík for a chance to see majestic marine life. Summer encounters often include Minke whales, harbour porpoises, and dolphins, while winter may delight you with sights of Humpback whales or even Orcas. The boat is equipped with indoor saloons, toilets, and a café for light refreshments, ensuring a comfortable experience regardless of the weather.
This combo tour is weather dependent, so wearing sturdy shoes and warm clothing is advised for a comfortable adventure.
