To dive in Silfra, participants must be certified as dry suit divers or show proof of 10 logged dry suit dives in the last two years. To participate in the Silfra dive, it's important to meet certain prerequisites. You must either be a certified dry suit diver or provide proof of at least 10 logged dry suit dives within the last two years. Additionally, all divers must read and sign a “Diving Silfra Medical Statement” and, if necessary, provide a doctor’s clearance for the tour.

Eligibility for the dive requires divers to be at least 18 years old (or 17 with parental permission), and no older than 65 years. Divers must be taller than 150 cm, weigh at least 45 kg (but not more than 120 kg), and be physically fit. Being a certified diver at the level of PADI Open Water or equivalent, ready to wear a sometimes tight and constricting dry suit (with dry suit diving experience recommended), comfortable in the water, and able to swim are all essential.

Diving in Silfra at Þingvellir National Park

Your journey begins with a drive to Þingvellir National Park, located approximately 45 km from Reykjavík, where you’ll dive into the crystal-clear glacial waters of Silfra. This remarkable dive offers over 100m of visibility and allows you to swim between two continents, providing a unique view of the crack that separates the European and American continental shelves. The diving experience, lasting about 3 hours, includes exploring the Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral, and Silfra Lagoon.

Whale Watching Experience from Reykjavík Old Harbour

After the dive, head back to Reykjavík Old Harbour for your whale watching tour beginning at 14:00. During this approximately 3-hour cruise, you’ll have the opportunity to encounter Minke whales, dolphins, porpoises, and even Humpback whales. The tour concludes with a return to the harbour around 17:00, after which our shuttle bus will take you back to your hotel.

Diving Requirements
